Andrew Ly
I'm a multi-disciplined creative and problem-solver who loves figuring out how things work and then pushing them further. Whether it’s stripping my vintage Honda motorcycle down to bare parts and teaching myself to weld it into a custom build, or diving into new design tools, I thrive on learning skills that expand my toolkit.
With almost 20 years as a freelance photographer and graphic designer, I have expanded into 3D design and DIY projects over the last decade. My entrepreneurial spirit flourishes through versatility. At North/South, the small business I co-founded, I use my design, branding, and photography expertise to build a product-based brand from the ground up. The venture demands a diverse skill set including problem-solving, adaptability, and cross-disciplinary thinking, which is a challenge I genuinely enjoy.
My photography focuses on adventure portraits and travel lifestyle, though I have captured everything from hospitality and interiors to food and product campaigns. Adventure drives my creativity through road trips, cultural immersion, and boundary-pushing experiences. I believe the best inspiration comes from the road, especially when shared with others.
Beyond design and photography, I am a lifelong musician who started piano at age five before teaching myself guitar, bass, drums, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and trumpet. While I now play mostly for personal enjoyment, music remains an essential thread in my creative fabric.
At my core, I am driven by versatility and the ability to adapt, explore, and create whatever is needed, whether big-picture systems or intricate details. Colleagues often discover unexpected facets of my abilities, and I love being the person people turn to when a challenge needs solving.
